Shellshock Nation
Eva used to be a superhero– before the world came to an end. Now, in a post-apocalyptic world, she’s given up her cape and mask to keep her family safe.
The story begins with a gang of naughty post-apocalyptic hooligans attempting to pillage/loot/rape/maim or otherwise harm the Arthur family. Will and Angela, along with daughters Eva, Billie and Lily are near the end of a cross-country trek in their armored school bus. They have been searching for family members who may have survived the nuclear holocaust. The hooligans are done with quickly thanks to Eva. Before the bombs came down, Eva was a superhero. With no real world to protect, she gave it up in order to keep her family safe.
The family soon arrives in a small retiree desert community where they hope to find Will’s parents among the living. The town is in bad shape, it has been ravaged by thugs working for the new “Mayor.” The Arthur grandparents survived the holocaust, only to be killed by the “police” over some ridiculous infraction. Will gives up at this point, which drives the last wedge between he and Angela. They separate, leaving Lily in the care of Billie and Eva for the time being. Eva takes it upon herself to remove the Mayor from office, which brings a mixed reaction from the townsfolk. The Mayor may have been corrupt, but he kept them safe. Now they look to Eva for protection.
Late one night, a shrouded figure attacks the town, and buries Eva under some rubble. When she frees herself, she learns that Lily has been kidnapped. With the burden of protecting the town on her shoulders, Eva is conflicted on what to do about Lily….
